It was great to have our first meeting with our partner Lauren Merkley, community events coordinator, at Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health to go over our fundraising initiatives for D.I.F.D. Lauren was very open to our ideas about doing a bottle drive, a cutest pet photo contest, and partnering with a local food truck to raise money for the charity. We discussed meeting up with her in person sometime this week to pick up D.I.F.D purple shirts for us to wear in hopes to generate more awareness while fundraising in our community.
Lauren has provided us with a D.I.F.D letter of solicitation that will help us in securing sponsorship and donations for the fundraising. She is willing to share our fundraising posters on the Royal Mental Health on social media platforms that include Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, which will be helpful in reaching a larger audience. In addition, she has given us a D.I.F.D merchandise representative's contact information to see about attaining D.I.F.D bracelets, hats, shirts, etc, for prizes and giveaways.
The journey can officially begin now we have Lauren's approval, support, and encouragement to implement our own creative ideas for the fundraising initiative. We are thankful for the opportunity to meet with Lauren and look forward to our next meet-up!
